The Good Dr.'s Notes

One morning Edwin was walking down the hall with his single, male, upper level resident. They were on their way to report on their patients when a younger female walked out of a room and said, "Thank you for last night. You were wonderful!"
Nothing more was said until the door closed and the two doctors were away from the patient's room. It was then the other doctor glanced over towards Edwin and asked "Dr. B, what DO YOU DO during cross-cover at night?!?" They both had a good laugh....then Edwin explained what really happened last night.
THE REAL STORY...
The hospital was EXTREMELY busy and around 1 am Edwin was walking the halls when a patient's daughter stopped him. She explained that her father was disoriented and kept asking to talk to a doctor. He said he would stop in and help comfort her dad. So like any good doctor he visited the sick elderly gentleman and chatted for a bit. He told a few jokes and calmed the man down and relax. It was a fine night for everyone. The patient was reassured that all was well. His daughter was able to rest until morning. And Edwin did a fine job helping both individuals.
Moral of the Story: Never tell your doctor he was "wonderful last night" unless you are married to him!

Crafty Lady

Since Edwin gave me complete guide to sewing I have been a bit more ambitious and brave about tackling some long neglected projects. These little aprons are patterened after some I bought at the dollar store. The much loved pink dollar store aprons didn't fair so well in the laundry. So I made these for the girls. They wear them all the time and that's fine by me!
I think I may make a few more for those "extra messy" days, like yogurt and applesauce!
Besides the cookies the girls are eating I also made mittens to temporarily replace some that were lost.....I'd like to make matching hats, mittens, and scarfs for the kids next winter in Iowa!
I just pulled out my pattern stash and fabric....I could go crazy this year so bring on the needles and thread!

FHE 1/19/2009 Plan of Salvation

For family home evening this year we opted to start reciting scriptures and the Articles of Faith. Our theme for the year is based on Moroni 7:45 "And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things." Each month we will discuss one definition of charity and recite the scripture up to that point. So for January we have talked about "charity suffereth long." By the end of the year we will have discussed every part of the scripture in detail and we should have it memorized by then. It is a good reminder for me to raise a family the Lord's way. Although this started out with the intention to help the family, so far I think I will be the one benefiting the most from this endeavor. But we all know a happy home has a happy mom! This year we have created a FHE job chart. Every week Grace and Anne turn the wheel to decide who gets to do which jobs. Although the details of our FHE aren't necessarily important to anyone else but me I want to keep a record without keeping another piece of paper, notebook, or object I need to keep track of. So here it is posted on my blog. Conducting: Dad Opening Prayer: Grace Song: Mom- I Have a Family Here on Earth 1st Article of Faith Shared by Anne and Brad (our visitor) Scripture: Moroni 7:45...."Charity suffereth long"-Grace Lesson: Plan of Salvation I have a really cute visual aid a mission companion drafted for me. It uses little spirit people I traced out of tissue paper. Due to no scanner there are no visuals to attach at this time, however, my scanner issue is to be remedied in the near future (Thanks Susan!) and then I can start scanning in my visuals for your convenience. Testimony Sharing: Mom Closing Prayer: Anne Activity: Glow stick catch Treat: Ice Cream with chocolate syrup and pink and purple sprinkles!

"She Just Got In."

Anne and Grace took a bath together last night. Grace wanted to stay and play longer than Anne. However, after Anne was dressed and ready for bed she went to check on Grace in the tub. When Edwin went in to check on the two girls he heard Grace say...
"She just got in."

Anne wanted to be sure and note....

SHE TOOK HER PANTS OFF FIRST!!!

Well done, Anne!
